One market has been here all along.

Your clients don't stop at a county line, and neither do you. Four MLSs across the Ohio Valley are becoming Ascend MLS, one regional MLS built around the way this market already works. Your association stays yours. Your market gets bigger.

What we're doing, and why

The market drew this map. We're catching up to it.

What is happening: APEX MLS, CincyMLS, Dayton REALTORS® MLS, and Northern Kentucky MLS are consolidating their MLS operations into Ascend MLS, a single regional multiple listing service serving the Ohio Valley. The MLSs are combining. The associations are not.

Why now: More than 2,500 of our members already belong to two or more of these MLSs, paying twice for one market and juggling separate logins, separate rules, and separate data. Buyers moved across these boundaries years ago. This consolidation follows them.

Why it works: One organization serving 16,300+ professionals can invest in technology, data quality, and support at a level no single one of our MLSs can match alone. Scale is what pays for better tools without raising the bar on what members pay for them.

Who decides: Each association's leadership and board of directors. Nothing described here is final until every participating board approves definitive agreements. This site will be updated at each milestone.

What changes

  • One MLS subscription and one fee, replacing duplicate memberships across our markets
  • One login and one shared database covering the tri-state footprint
  • One set of rules, one compliance standard, and consistent data quality everywhere
  • Greater investment in technology, training, and member support
  • A unified voice for the Ohio Valley in national data and policy conversations

What stays the same

  • Your local association, its name, its leadership, and its services
  • Your REALTOR® membership, advocacy, and professional standards
  • Local expertise: boards from every market govern the new organization together
  • The people who answer when you call for support
  • Your listings, your history, and your data, converted and preserved
For subscribers

Your market, multiplied.

Every benefit below exists for one reason: the value of an MLS is the completeness of its data and the reach of its cooperation. A bigger, cleaner, shared database makes every member more competitive.

Pay once, practice everywhere

Members working across Louisville, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky today carry multiple subscriptions. In the regional MLS, one subscription covers the entire footprint.

The full picture for your clients

Comps, inventory, and market history across three states in one search. No more blind spots at the edge of your current MLS's coverage.

Modern tools, funded by scale

A 16,300-subscriber organization can negotiate and invest in technology that smaller MLSs simply cannot, and keep improving it year after year.

One rulebook

A single set of rules and consistent enforcement across every market. Learn it once, and it applies everywhere you work.

Cleaner, more complete data

Unified fields, unified standards, and one compliance team focused on accuracy, because your reputation rides on the data behind your advice.

Broader exposure for every listing

Your sellers' properties reach every cooperating professional in the region the moment they're listed, instead of stopping at an MLS boundary.

For associations

Stronger together, still independent.

This is an MLS consolidation, not an association merger. Each association remains a separate organization serving its members, with a seat at the table of the new regional MLS.

Shared governance

The regional MLS is governed by a board drawn from all participating markets, with representation designed so no single market controls the organization.

Continued financial participation

Participating associations hold ownership in the regional MLS and share in its financial performance, supporting local programs, advocacy, and services.

Focus on what associations do best

With MLS operations handled regionally, each association can concentrate on advocacy, education, professional standards, and community, the work only a local association can do.

How we get there

A deliberate path, taken in the open.

Consolidations succeed when they're done carefully and communicated honestly. Here's the road, and where we are on it.

Phase 1 · Complete

Agreement to explore

Leadership of all four organizations agreed to jointly explore a regional MLS and engaged an independent consultant to help design the structure.

Phase 2 · UnderwayWe are here

Structure and financial design

Governance framework, financial modeling, and operating structure are being developed and reviewed by all four organizations.

Phase 3

Board review and approvals

Each association's board of directors independently reviews and votes on definitive agreements. Nothing is binding until every board approves.

Phase 4

Building the regional MLS

Systems conversion, data mapping, staff transition, and member training, with plenty of notice and support before anything changes for you.

Phase 5

Launch

Ascend MLS goes live: one MLS, one login, one fee, one shared market across the Ohio Valley.

Questions, answered plainly

What members are asking.

Is my association merging or going away?

No. This is a consolidation of MLS operations only. Your association keeps its name, leadership, staff, advocacy, education, and services. Associations remain independent organizations and become co-owners of the regional MLS.

Will my MLS fees go up?

Final fee schedules will be set by the new organization's board and published well before launch. The goal driving the design is straightforward: members should pay one subscription for the whole region, and members who currently pay two or more MLSs for access to this market should pay once.

What happens to my listings and history?

Your listing data, production history, and records convert into the regional system. Data conversion and field mapping are a core workstream of the transition, and nothing launches until your history travels with you.

Which MLS system will we use?

Platform decisions will be announced as the technical plan is finalized. The commitment behind them: members get modern, reliable tools, ample training, and a generous transition period before any system change takes effect.

Who will govern the new MLS?

A board of directors drawn from all participating markets, structured so that every market has a voice and no single market controls the organization. Governance documents are reviewed and approved by each association's board before anything takes effect.

When will this happen?

We're in the structure-and-design phase now. Board approvals come next, and members will get significant advance notice, training, and support before any operational change. Milestones will be posted on this site as they're reached.

Why should I believe this helps me and not just the organizations?

Fair question. The honest answer is that the value of any MLS is its data and its reach. A shared database covering 16,300+ professionals across three states means better comps, broader exposure for your listings, and one fee where many members pay several today. The organizations benefit when you do; that's the model.

I have a question that isn't answered here.

Ask it. Every association below has a designated contact for this initiative, and questions members raise shape the next round of updates to this page.
